Adel Carrera, Dance Engagements’ President & Founder
Adel Carrera is a Dreamer, and alumni of the world-famous Hollywood High School who in 2007 founded Dance Engagements with the mission to encourage, support, and highlight the importance of dance in underserved communities.
After experiencing a taste of the dance world in high school and realizing how hard it was for less fortunate students such as herself to participate in dance, Adel felt the need to help provide equal opportunities and dance experiences to underserved communities; in a safe and positive environment.
For over 14 years, Adel has given back to her community and has made a difference in the lives of many children and families by offering dance-related opportunities that aren’t easily at reach due to school budget cuts.
“At the age of 13, I discovered my passion for DANCE. I found something I could do without fear, and my legal status didn’t matter. It gave me a safe place to be myself! So, I danced and danced until dance became my life. I loved it, thrived, and became a leader, but most importantly, it gave me hopes and dreams. I’m determined to pay that forward,” -Adel Carrera, President of Dance Engagements
In 2014 President Adel Carrera became an official DACA recipient and continued to take Dance Engagements to new levels by officially becoming a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) non-profit dance organization. Adel has devoted her life to engaging and educating dancers of all ages, shapes, & sizes in the arts of cultural dances from around the world while always promoting positive physical health, community outreach, environmental awareness, and self-betterment.
